A Night of Art & Opulence at the Zeitz MOCAA Gala Dinner 2025
On the evening of February 21, 2025, the Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge & Events Space played host to an unparalleled evening of culture, elegance, and immersive design—the Zeitz MOCAA Gala Dinner 2025. As guests stepped into the venue, they were welcomed into a world where contemporary design met South Africa’s vibrant artistic spirit, set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Africa’s most celebrated museum of contemporary art.
The venue itself became part of the experience, offering a seamless integration between art, architecture, and ambiance. With its striking industrial-chic aesthetic, high ceilings, and dramatic lighting, the space provided the perfect canvas for the evening’s breathtaking décor and floral installations.
A curated colour palette of vibrant oranges, deep reds, and glowing yellows, punctuated by black and teal blue accents, transformed the venue into a dynamic yet sophisticated setting. Gold elements were strategically placed to enhance the elegance and grandeur of the evening.
One of the most iconic highlights was the photo opportunity wall, where the interplay of bold teal hues, cascading florals, and gleaming gold-wrapped furniture created a moment of pure visual magic. The event space was further elevated by sculptural floral arrangements and statement furniture pieces, seamlessly blending contemporary design with natural beauty.
The night began with a red carpet welcome and a private reception in the museum’s Atrium. A highlight of the evening was the Zeitz MOCAA Honorary Award for Artistic Excellence, presented to Otobong Nkanga in recognition of her profound impact on contemporary art.
Guided by the impeccable Jo-Ann Strauss as Master of Ceremonies, guests indulged in an exquisitely curated dining experience on Level 6 of the museum, closing the evening in true celebration.
Proceeds from the Gala directly support Zeitz MOCAA’s curatorial and education programming, ensuring continued access, dialogue and world-class exhibitions.
