2023 – 2024 Ocular Season Highlights
This past season at the Zeitz MOCAA Ocular Lounge and Events Space was marked by a series of remarkable highlights. We hosted an array of exclusive events, from intimate art showcases to grand gala evenings, all set against the backdrop of breathtaking panoramic views of Cape Town. Notable moments included the extremely vibrant and high-end Zeitz MOCAA Gala Dinner in February, and wedding celebrations curated by the quirky and unique, a|WEDDING by Tatum. These functions not only celebrated the rich cultural tapestry of Cape Town, it also reinforced the Ocular Lounge’s reputation as a premier destination for sophisticated and dynamic gatherings. Zeitz MOCAA Gala Dinner | February 2024
The Zeitz MOCAA Gala was the museum’s annual fundraiser and a highly awaited grand evening in the social calendar. The Gala served as a very special gathering for rejuvenation through communal support for one of Africa’s most prominent art institutions.
Emceed by South African model and businesswoman Jo-Ann Strauss, the evening included a seated dinner, tours of the museum exhibitions, and the awarding of the Zeitz MOCAA Honorary Award for Artistic Excellence and the Zeitz MOCAA Honorary Award for Philanthropic Achievements. Guests were entertained by South African singer and songwriter Simphiwe Dana and Capetonian artist Nobuhle Ashanti. There was also an Exclusive Auction facilitated by Strauss & Co with works by some of the greatest artists working today.

Metso Outotec Gala Dinner | February 2024
The Metso Outotec Gala Dinner 2024 was a spectacular evening held at the Ocular Lounge. The event was beautifully executed by the Ocular Events team, featuring stunning blue floral arrangements and exquisite lighting that created an enchanting atmosphere. Guests enjoyed an unforgettable night of elegance and sophistication, celebrating in the heart of one of Africa’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

Fanta Launch | December 2023
The #FantaTikTokExperience launched in South Africa at the Ocular Lounge on December 20, 2023. This innovative collaboration between Fanta and TikTok invited creators to explore how sensory perceptions influence flavour. Rooted in neuroscientific findings, the event featured limited-edition Fanta cans and TikTok-guided WebAR experiences. Influencers scanned QR codes on the cans, watched TikTok videos, and tested if visuals and sounds altered their taste experiences. The event showcased Fanta’s commitment to creativity and playful engagement, blending technology and sensory exploration in a vibrant, immersive setting.

Lena & Jurg | November 2023
Lena and Jurg’s wedding at Ocular Lounge was a beautiful blend of modern elegance and artistic flair. Their vision, characterised by organic, contemporary, and textured elements, came to life with a unique colour palette of neutrals and soft, muted tones. The ceremony featured a striking steel structure adorned with cascading arrangements of fresh and dried florals complementing the venue’s avant-garde architecture. At the reception, minimalistic yet impactful floral arrangements, interspersed with fresh produce, created a visually stunning and unique setting. Cloud-like hanging installations composed of dried and fresh textures added a sense of wonder and artistry, transforming the venue into a canvas of modern romance. Lena and Jurg’s wedding was not just a celebration—it was an artistic expression of their journey, blending organic textures, muted tones, and contemporary design into a timeless and breathtaking day.
